Project SEARCH Montgomery

                              Project Summary

In September of 2012, the Montgomery County Government launched Project SEARCH-Montgomery in partnership with SEEC, The Ivymount School, The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration, and the Maryland Department of Rehabilitative Services. 

Project SEARCH-Montgomery was initiated by County Executive, Isiah Leggett after visiting the Project SEARCH-NIH program in 2011.   

This project is based across multiple government departments and facilities providing real workplace experiences to enhance the acquisition of marketable work skills and the development of robust resumes. In addition, interns benefit from classroom instruction at the work site to learn and practice fundamental skills to meet workplace expectations.

Montgomery Internship Duties Include:

  • Identifying non-compliant properties in the online database for the Homestead Exemption team within the Finance Department 

  • Organizing, stocking and restocking the heavy equipment Parts Shop 

  • Organizing, stocking and restocking the facilities team's parts shop within the Department of General Services’ Facilities Division

  • Performing basic clerical duties, including employee verification activities and scanning performance evaluation documents for the Office of Human Resources

  • Performing a variety of clerical duties, including collating marketing packets and materials, counting supplies, etc for the Department of Transportation

  • Providing clerical support for the Department of Permitting Services
